There are numerous religions and customs that people here follow. Amongst that Hinduism is the most followed religion. Lord Ram is one of the most revered Gods of the Hindus. He is believed to be the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu. He is believed to be the “ardhaansh” of Vishnu, that is to have half the divine qualities of Lord Vishnu. “Rama” literally means one who is exquisitely idyllic and is capable of giving joy to others. He is one in whom the great sages take pride and have immense faith.
Why and when is Ram Navami celebrated?
Ram Navami is marked to celebrate mark the birth of Lord Rama to his parent King Dasharatha and Queen Kausalaya.
The occasion is marked with great pomp and gaiety. The believers of Rama feel that this is the day, which turned the fate of their ancestors and consequentially them. It is extreme prowess and the concern of the well-being of his people that have got him so many followers thousands of years after his death.
He was a protector of his people and was extremely gentle. His sacrifices and noble decisions throughout his life for his family and for the people of his land render him a true god and hero to all his followers. His power and His knowledge are divine and his legacy resides in it.
How is Ram Navami celebrated?
The followers of Lord Rama celebrate this day to immerse themselves in the spirit of Lord Rama. They feel his divine presence by worshipping him and singing chants. They offer their prayers and wishes to him and believe that Lord Rama will definitely help them find light at the end of the tunnel. They also feel that Lord Rama rejoices with them in their celebration and is a part of their happiness during the festivities.
To mark Ram Navami, people practice fasting. Bhajans are sung in the honor of their Lord. People clean their homes to free it from all the impurities and worship Sita, Lora Rama’s wife, Laxman, his brother and Hanuman, Lord Rama’s most devoted follower. Aarti is done while the bhajans are sung and the environment becomes very holy and devotional. You feel like flowing wit this devotion and as a result you find a lot of peace of mind and happiness for the heart.
Such religious zeal for a certain God is rarely seen. He is strongly believed in for the extremely useful and marvelous lessons of life that he has taught his followers by being an example himself. People consider him their idol and a true believer of Lord Ram follows his teachings and beliefs at every step of his life. It takes a lot of sincerity and patience to be a true follower of Ram. To claim oneself as a follower is not enough. You are recognized by the deeds you perform. A true follower of Ram brings upon himself a lot of blessing, peace, and good wishes from his people.
